creating a hole in a hollow cylinder

Do you need to consider the fluid? What is the particle loading? Have you read any of the materials in Learning to decide which solver to use?

I know of solver to use but currently I am focused on building a proper geometry, the fine particles will have to penetrate the light rays that will be passing across the cylinder

And which solver are you planning on using? That's quite important when building the geometry and then mesh.....

      looking at using fluent

And how do you plan on adding the light, and how are you tracking that on the particles?

I do not know how to add the light, There is an option in fluent to cross the rays through a pipe but I do not think that the particles will penetrate through the pipe to make contact with the rays as they drops

What tutorials, Learning and manual chapters have you completed? I have done what you're trying several times but am not permitted to use/share detailed engineering knowledge on the public Forum. There are a few different approaches, but as you've not given any clues I can't even give you hints.

I think this is a public forum on getting hints and helps to navigate the ansys software, maybe am at the wrong place? Please let me know if you can help me with this problem of passing a hot light ray across a cylinder as the particles drops and penetrate through the rays.

Please let me know the exact clue you might need. I have used this forum twice and got the help and I do not understand why you can't share any info on the forum.

I can help, but as staff I'm limited in what I can cover due to export rules.

We can help but you need to explain what you want and how you think you want to do it. Possibly with help from your project supervisor.
