Electro-Thermal and Thermo-Mechanical Analysis using Mechanical in Ansys Electronics Desktop (AEDT) Platform

This course will introduce you to the basics of FEM-based thermal conduction-only and structural analyses through lectures, workshops, and examples/demonstrations. The lectures and examples/demos are covered during the online sessions while the workshops are to be completed independently between online sessions. The online sessions include ample Q&A time to discuss questions, comments and feedback related to the workshops.

Learning Outcomes:

Following Completion of this course you will be able to:

• Carry out electro-thermal and thermo-mechanical analyses in Ansys Electronics Desktop (AEDT) platform.
• Create/import geometry .
• Define material properties and boundary conditions required to perform steady-state and transient thermal conduction-only and static structural simulations.
• Understand the best practices for model building, meshing, solving, and checking the results.
• Set up multiphysics workflows by coupling Mechanical (Thermal) with other Electromagnetic tools like Ansys HFSS™ high-frequency electromagnetic simulation software and Ansys Maxwell® advanced electromagnetic field solver, and Mechanical (Structural) within the AEDT environment.
• Import AEDT Mechanical designs into Ansys Workbench platform for advanced static and transient structural analyses.
• Know how and where to get additional resources and support.

Prerequisites:

A technical education and background in fluid mechanics and heat transfer for thermal analysis and solid mechanics for structural analysis is recommended but an engineering degree is not required. This course is designed for users who have little to no experience with Mechanical analyses in Ansys Electronics Desktop (AEDT)™ electronics systems design platform.
