The Ansys Maxwell Getting Started course introduces you to the solvers available within Ansys Maxwell® advanced electromagnetic field solver. As a Low Frequency tool, solvers are divided into Electric and Magnetic. Magnetic solvers include Magnetostatic, Eddy Current and Transient, while Electric solvers include Electrostatic, AC Current, DC current and Transient. Most workshops include geometry construction instructions, but the workshops also provide files for learners not interested in 2D/3D modelling practice. The training material includes several of the most recent features, like e.g. winding in Magnetostatic solver.

Learning Outcomes:

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Set up 2D and 3D Maxwell simulations, including excitations, boundary conditions, parameters (e.g., force and matrices), analyses and mesh operations.
  • Understand differences between static solvers AC/DC Conduction, Eddy Current Magnetic Transient, Magnetostatic and Electrostatic analysis.
  • Understand Magnetic/Electric transient solver usage including motion, excitations, parameters, and loss models.
  • Set up parametric models for variation studies (parametric sweeps).
  • Set up simulation results reports in 2D plots and electromagnetic field plots visible on the geometry.

Prerequisites:

  • Ansys Electronics Desktop 3D Modeling Getting Started
  • Knowledge of static and quasistatic electromagnetics (such as eddy currents)

Please note: These training materials were developed and tested in the 2023R2 release.

  • Cost:
    $450.00
  • Course Duration: 6+ HOURS
  • Skill Level: Beginner
  • Skills Gained: 2D and 3D Electromagnetic Simulation Setup, Static and Quasi‑Static Solver Selection, Transient Electromagnetic Analysis, Electromagnetic Post‑Processing and Reporting, Parametric Modeling and Design Studies
