Material properties are defined in the element coordinate system, as such it doesn’t depend upon global Cartesian coordinate system. In Mechanical, users can change the element coordinate system. 1. Create new coordinate systems with orientation as required. 2. In the details View of the part, specify the new coordinate system for the part, it will be the part’s element coordinate system. Please refer the attached image which shows, how to change element coordinate system for the part.
