In addition to learning the power of Discovery AIM in these tutorials, the following application examples will expand your knowledge and discovery to new levels.
Download and open these files with saved solutions in Discovery AIM and review the setup and solution to gain an understanding of what ANSYS can help you Discover.
Â
1)Â Structural Deformation of a Battery Clip Plastic
Application example of the plastic deformation of a battery clip. The bilinear isotropic hardening model is used. This project requires release 19.0 or newer.
Â
2)Â Structural Simulation of a Clutch Housing
Application example of a structural simulation of a clutch housing with a pretensioned bolted connection to the chassis. This project requires release 19.0 or newer.
Â
3)Â Structural Simulation of a Snap-Fit Buckle
Application example of a snap-fit buckle simulation including non-linear contact. This project requires release 19.2Â or newer.
Â
4) Discovery AIM – Actuator Mechanism
Application example of an actuator mechanism simulation including joint definitions, a spring, and large deflection. This project requires release 19.2 or newer.
Â
5)Â Structural Simulation of a Sway Bar Assembly
Application example of a sway bar assembly including non-linear contact, hinge and spherical joints, bolt pretension and multiple load steps. This project requires release 19.2 or newer.
Â
6) Structural Simulation of a Pressure Vessel
Application example of a structural simulation of a pressure vessel. A pressure differential of 10 psi is applied to the steel vessel where the walls are set up as 2D surfaces. Equivalent stress and displacement are plotted in the results. This project requires release 19.2Â or newer.
Â
7)Â Structural Simulation of a Piston Conrod With Non-Linear Contact
Application example of a structural simulation of a piston conrod. Non-linear contact between the rod bushing and wrist pin, and wrist pin and piston bushing is accounted for. This project requires release 19.0 or newer.
Â
8)Â Topology Optimization of a Bracket
Application example of topology optimization of a simple bracket. AIM calculates the shape with the optimum strength-to-weight of a bracket with two fixed supports and an applied load. This project requires release 19.1Â or newer.
Â
9)Â Structural Simulation of Wheel Bolt Pretension
Application example of a structural simulation of wheel bolt pretension. This project requires release 19.0 or newer.
Â
10)Â Clip Insertion and Extraction Simulation
Application example of a snap-fit clip being inserted and extracted including non-linear frictional contact  and large deflection. This project requires release 19.2 or newer.
Â
11)Â Interference Fit on a Wheel and Axle Assembly
Application example of a structural simulation of interference fit on a wheel and axle assembly. Frictional stress and contact pressure are calculated. This project requires release 19.0 or newer.
Â
12)Â Vehicle Suspension Modal Analysis
Application example of a modal analysis of a vehicle double-wishbone suspension including springs. Results include displacements of each component for different suspension vibration modes. This project requires release 19.0 or newer.
Â
13)Â PCB Random Vibration Analysis (PSD Analysis)
Application example of a random vibration analysis on a PCB with multiple attached components. Results include PSD stresses on the different components. This project requires release 2019R1 or newer.
