SubscriberHi
I installed the Ansys analysis tool on windows 10 (64), however, I faced some issue running the tool.
The error message shows as below:
“Unable to locate or start COM engine on 'Local Machine' : no response from COM engine, timed out”
Also, I use a VPN.
Could you teach me how to fix this issue?
Thank you very much.

Ansys EmployeeVPN is the prime suspect here. Are you using VPN to connect to the license server ?
Otherwise, if you have license local on your machine, please try it without connecting to VPN (you may need to reboot if you connected to VPN before this)
Thanks,
Win

SubscriberThank you for responding.
I'm using VPN to connect to the license server, I don't have a license local.

Ansys EmployeeHi Hussein,
I would recommend to ask your school/department who owns the licenses to reach out to ANSYS Account Manager (their ANSYS contact) and describe the situation that you need VPN to access the license server (I take it because of the pandemic ?) but it causes the issue with ANSYS solver. Ask them to see if there is anything they can help you with regarding licenses.
Thanks,
Win

SubscriberHi,
I think I have a similar problem. I work on the Win 11 with the student version of the Ansys software and error shown below came up when I tried to analyze my first project
" Unable to locate or start COM engine on 'Local Machine' : unable to create engine process" .
Could You please help me to solve this one?
Thank You,
Arek
