SubscriberHi Support.Â
In 2025R2 it looks like the STEP file translator has been updated from HOOPS Exchange Version 24.6.0 to HOOPS Exchange Version 25.2.0
This seems to be causing a lot of problems with other software as a neutral file type. In 3/4 different other softwares I have tested the files exported as a STEP don't appear as solid causing problems for any sheet metal nesting and braking software.Â
Is this something you are aware of.Â
I also notice other behavioural differences. In 2025R1 when exporting a sheet metal assembly in STEP format I don't get all the unfolded pieces showing in the STEP in the 2025R2 all the unfolded pieces now appear. You also always seem to get additional empty components when saving.Â
This is causing quite a few issues as STEP is the standard for file sharing between systems for a lot of people and STEPS saved in 2025R2 don't seem to be very reliable.Â
Happy to discuss in more detail.

SubscriberThanks for looking into with some simple testing I have found that 2025R2 saving as a step defines - Open Shell and then a Shell-Based Surface Model - This may cause problems in other softwares
2025R1 - Manifold Solid B-Rep using a
CLOSED_SHELL
Happy to send some files over please reach out via email
