Question Regarding Inertial Load Simulation in Ansys Mechanical

      Hello,

I performed a static simulation in Ansys Mechanical with an inertial load (acceleration), but I have a question. When applying a 10G acceleration in the positive X direction, I get a certain stress output. However, when I reverse the direction to -10G along the same X-axis, the stress results remain the same.

This is quite surprising to me, as I would expect different values due to the shift between tension and compression in each case. At first glance, I would have anticipated distinct results.

Could you help me understand why this occurs?

      Best regards,

      Luc B

      Hi Luc,

The effect of acceleration will be in opposite direction. So if you apply the same acceleration by only changing the direction the magnitude of result will not change on its direction changes subjected to a condition that you are only applying acceleration as a load. Can you please share the screenshot of you model setup with the boundary conditions and loads used to understand the query better?

      Regards,

      Sourabh
