Crack Propagation Direction Using SMART Growth Method

Hello, I have a question regarding crack propagation using the SMART Growth method. The results we're getting are not very precise — is the propagation along the X-axis (depth, a) or along the Z-axis (length, c)

      Hello Ousswa,

This depends on the Crack Length Percentage. Using the Crack Length Percentage property, you can move the probe along the crack front. Because the results vary along the crack front, you can use this percentage entry to select a point along the tip you wish to examine. One crack front edge (0%) mayby propagated towards x direction, while the center of the crack front (50%) may propagate through y direction (these are assumptions).

Please, refer to the Documentation in this link.

      Thank you!

      Kind Regards,

      Stella
