Ansys-Additive Manufacturing Workbench-Laser power parameter

      Hello everyone,

In Ansys ATC, there is an Additive Manufacturing workbench and this workbench is suitable for Powder Bed Fusion work. All the basic laser process parameters are well addressed on the machine parameter settings. However, laser power is not addressed in the machine parameter settings. Without laser power, the powder material will not melt. So, I need to write some codes on the laser power and insert this code on the analysis settings, but I have no background about the writing codes. Can you give me a direction? For a better understand, here I attached the machine parameter dialogue box.

Thank you very much for your cooperation!

In WB-Mechanical, we use a Lumped Layered approach to simulate the AM material deposition. You can read more about this in the Additive Manufacturing Analysis Guide. https://ansysproducthelpqa.win.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v211/en/add_ag/add_ag_AM_in_WB.htmlnThe load applied is temperature, not heat, and not at the local level (i.e. laser path). Below is an illustration of the process. The assumption is that the process parameters for the build have been set appropriately so that (1) the developed temperature is always at or above melt (no lack of fusion) and (2) the developed temperature does not greatly exceed melt (no keyholing).nn

sir, I am facing the same kind of problem. laser power is an effective parameter and including it not in the machine setting is a little bit strange. I will be happy if you guide me on how I can include laser power in that machine setting.best regards
