ANSYS 2023 R2 crashes

I am designing eight patches over the conical shape of substrate. All seven patches are able to wrapped smoothly, while wrapping 8th patch, the software is crashing with unknown error. It is happening in 2023 R2 only, while doing the same design on HFSS 2021 R1, there is no problem.

I also analyze that it is happening while wrapping on conical shape only, in cylindrical shape all patches are wrapping perfectly.

I am attaching a screenshot of error. Please provide the solution regarding this problem.

      Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to the Ansys learning forum.

I tried replicating your scenario (wrapping 8 sheets around a conical shape) and did not see any issue. I even verified by increasing the wrapped objects count and still the tool did not crash.

The issue might be because of your hardware. Please check with a better hardware if possible.

      Hope this helps.

      Best regards,
      Praneeth.

Thank You for your solution. I don't know why the software crashes so frequently, particularly the conformal antenna design. Now, the previous problem has been solved but again, this crashing occurs when the wrapped hollow frustum thickness is changing. Later, again it starts coming while conforming to the sixth antenna on a frustum shape. I feel that, if I am designing wrong, it should give an error, not crash the software. The thing is notice that I already designed the conformal array (same design) in HFSS 2021 R1, the software never crashed. Mostly I am getting errors the  like " Wrapsheet does not touch next face with contact line".

The 2021 R1 HFSS is in a 16GB RAM computer, while the 2023 R2 is on 128GB RAM computer.

Can you tell me what kind of hardware ( computer) causes software to crash?

      Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Your patience is much appreciated.

Please note that I suggested checking your hardware as you reported the application was crashing while wrapping the objects. I tried the scenario you mentioned and the application was working as expected. Based on your latest information, I suggest you try the same thing on any other hardware to see if the issue is with the application or the hardware.

      Hope this helps.

      Best regards,
      Praneeth.
