We have an exciting announcement about badges coming in May 2025. Until then, we will temporarily stop issuing new badges for course completions and certifications. However, all completions will be recorded and fulfilled after May 2025.

Is it possible to shear elements in static structural

      Hello all

I have a cutting case and I am not sure if I can solve this problem in static structural

Cutting time is happening between 0.1 - 0.05 sec

There is a cutting block which is moving 10 mm X and 10mm Y direction in the cutting time (So I have a displacement for this block)

      There is a fixed block.

There is a profile (piece) which will be cutted in half by moving block

I tried to solve it but It is stopping when my cutting block touches the profile(piece)

      Large deflection: ON

Contact between piece and blocks defined one by one with Friction = 0.5

Mesh type is for nonlineer analysis

Materials from General Nonlineer materials (AL for piece and steel NL for Blocks)

      Hello,

For applications involving short durations, significant nonlinearities, and element erosion, I recommend using explicit dynamic analysis with Ansys LS-DYNA. You can find more information about explicit dynamics theory in this free Ansys course: Explicit Dynamics Theory - Ansys Innovation Course - YouTube
