Thin Film Meshing

Hi, I am trying to mesh a 900mm diameter cylinderical thin film with 0.1um thickness.

I tried different mesh elements and sizes with some applicable option to imporve the mesh quality. However, still the quality is not good.

Any tips for meshing the thin film?

      Thanks.

I am assuming you have boundary layer/inflation/prism layers on cylindrical wall. You will need to reduce surface mesh size. If you use coarser surface mesh size on cylindrical surfacw with so small inflation then it may give bad elements. So please refine surface mesh further.

The min orthogonal quality should be above 0.1 to proceed to solver. If it is less than 0.1 then please improve the mesh.
First check the locations of the bad elements. Please see following video for the same.

Once you have locations, please check if you can improve mesh using different mesh sizing. Please see following video.

To confirm, you have a 900mm diameter pipe and want a 0.1micron near wall cell height? What size is the wall surface mesh?

Actually a 900 mm diameter cylindrical reactor with a 0.1 mm thickness.

I generated a mesh with good quality, it has a lot of elements, though.

Anyway, I figured it out. Thanks for your help!

Good to hear. When dealing with VERY small sections it can be easier to build geometry in "units" and scale in the solver. I've also used anisotropic adaption to refine a mesh in a narrow gap when putting more than 2 cells in broke the CAD tolerances.
