Why Fluent Reports feature doesn`t show integral value for a particular zone

      Dear experts,

I am currently using ANSYS Fluent 2021 R1 Academic. I am solving 2D transient aerofoil problem.

I am trying to get the differential area of the cell, using the Reports function (At Results Tab), the Report Type Surface Integral is returning an inconsistent value with the physical known area of the mesh domain. What I meant was the integration of the differential cell area within a certain region should be consistent value.

For example Integral Face Area magnitude 0 (m2/m2) is obtained instead of a known value.

Could you please advise me how I can get the differential area of the cell and confirm the value is correct with the physical domain?

      Thanks

      Mr S

Are you using an area report on the volume? In 2d we still refer to the fluid as a volume.

I am suffering from same problem as well. I am trying to calculate the surface area in 2D within certain region by using integration of the differential cell area with the assumption that "Face area magnitude" represents an differential surface area of cell (dA). However when I check it for the region having known area value, there is big clear inconsistency between the calculated result from this integration and known area value. Could you please explain the reason caused this inconsistency and is that possible to define differential cell area with a certain variable in fluent instead of "Face area Magnitude" if it is not fine for this purpose?

If you're working on the interior or fluid zone you're integrating the areas for ALL of the edges in the fluid region. There is no "area" for the fluid zone, you need to use the volume integrals. If you left the reference depth alone (highly recommended) the area is the same as the volume as the depth is 1m.
