width=This course covers the comprehensive understanding of heat transfer in different boiling regimes. It provides an in-depth exploration of the dynamics of vapor bubbles on a heated surface, explaining the process of nucleation, bubble growth, and departure. The course also emphasizes the importance of these processes in developing heat transfer models for predicting boiling heat transfer. It further investigates the boiling curve, highlighting different regimes of boiling and their respective heat transfer mechanisms. The course introduces the mechanistic models and correlations used in predicting boiling heat transfer, using illustrative examples such as the Rohsenow correlation and the Forster-Zuber relationship. It also covers the concept of critical heat flux, focusing on the hydrodynamic theory of critical heat flux, and concludes with an overview of film boiling and transition boiling.

This course has been developed by Prof. Gargi Das, Prof. P.K. Das from IIT Kharagpur for NPTEL. It is now accessible through Ansys Innovation Space courtesy of the partnership between Ansys and NPTEL, under the CC BY-SA license. For more details, visit https://nptel.ac.in/courses/103105059.
