This course covers the fundamental principles of thermodynamic cycles and processes. It provides a comprehensive understanding of various types of cycles such as steam power cycle, air standard cycle, and vapor compression refrigeration cycle. The course also delves into the concept of regenerative feed water heating, explaining how it increases the temperature of a stream without direct heating. It further explores the operation of open and closed feed water heaters in a Rankine cycle and their impact on the cycle's performance. The course also introduces the concept of air standard cycles, focusing on gas turbine engine, spark ignition engine, and compression ignition engine. It concludes with a detailed analysis of the Brayton cycle, isotropic processes, and the Brayton cycle with two-stage compression process and intercooling.
