This course represents your first step towards using Sherlock to simulate and predict the reliability of all your PCB designs.

Ansys Sherlock™ electronics reliability prediction software provides fast and accurate life predictions of electronic hardware at the component, board, and system levels in the early stages of design and development. This course represents your first step towards using Sherlock to simulate and predict the reliability of all your PCB designs.

Learning Outcomes:

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Navigate the Ansys Sherlock software GUI to Preprocess, Solve, and Postprocess a reliability study.
  • Work with Part Lists, Layers, and Stackups to represent PCB components, mount points, and input data.
  • Set up a Life Cycle analysis based upon a keen understanding of relationships among cycles, exposure time, service life, and Minor’s rule damage calculations.
  • Import and successfully troubleshoot an ECAD model of a PCB.
  • Set up and perform Solder Fatigue, Natural Frequency, Harmonic, and Random Vibe analyses.

Prerequisites:

A familiarity with electronics reliability and the design requirements and challenges associated with producing reliable PCB designs is beneficial but not necessary.

Please note: These training materials were developed and tested in the 2023R1 release.
