Why maximum stress and maximum strain are at different location in a model?

      If one is looking for maximum normal stress and maximum normal strain to be at one location then they may not occur at the same location as normal strain is affected by strains in other directions. However maximum unaveraged equivalent stress and equivalent strain should occur at one location.
