Multiphase Flows

What is the influence of turbulence damping factor for Eulerian multiphase flows with kw SST?

For 2-phase flows with strong transverse gradient of velocity, RANS 2-eq. models predict a large production of k through interface. This large production of k affects the levels of turbulent viscosity at interface. For k-ω models, a correction exists to increase the level of ω based on the gradient of volume fraction so that dissipation term is increased in k equation. This correction corresponds to the « turbulence damping » option in the turbulence model GUI. Such option has been tested on a simple configuration and the damping effects were observed on the turbulent kinetic energy level at the interface. See attached document for further details.
