What is the effect of No. of DRW Tries on Turbulent Dispersion in the DPM Model?

Discrete Random Walk (DRW) model includes the effect of turbulent dispersion on particle tracks by adding a perturbation or a fluctuating velocity component to every track emanating from the injection locations. The number of tries controls the number of “sub” tracks to be estimated from every injection point. Each of these “sub” tracks will typically follow a different path perturbed about the mean path. If dispersion is quantified in terms of the downstream cross-spread of particles about the mean path, then generally the predicted dispersion will increase with higher number of tries. Beyond a certain number of tries, the spread may not increase substantially, but the distribution of “sub” tracks within the same dispersed area becomes denser. Please refer to the attached document for more details explained using an example.
