It depends upon which contact formulation is used in Body Interactions. If you are using Trajectory contact under Body Interactions, program will predict the displacement (trajectory) of the contact node at the beginning of the time step and check to see if it is penetrating the target face. If yes, contact will be activated to push the node back from the face and thus separate the contact node and target face at the end of the time step. Contact radius is not used. If you are using Proximity Based contact under Body Interactions, it is true that this logic uses contact radius. Program calls it as “Pinball Radius”. Contact occurs when the contact node moves into the pinball radius of the target face.
