      The safety factor reported by the Mechanical Fatigue Tool is the multiplier on the stress required to predict a fatigue life equal to the Design Life specified in the Details Window. The default setting for the Design Life is 1e9 cycles. Thus, if minimum calculated safety factor is 2.5, then the applied load can be increased by a factor of 2.5 and still achieve a design life of 1e9 cycles.
