Here are some suggestions to try if you are having trouble getting Discovery Live running.
Issue: Discovery Live does not launch
Shows “Unable to initialize CUDA, please try updating graphics device driver.” or “Graphics device is not compatible with Discovery. Please see the Discovery Live Forum for more information.” on product launch.
- Try updating the your graphics driver by visiting http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx. We do not recommend the automatic update functionality provided through Device Manager in Windows.
- Ensure that your machine meets the minimum hardware requirements by running the Discovery Live Compatibility Utility found in the product installation at
scdmCudaCheckDiscoveryLiveCompatibilityUtility.exe
Issue: Simulation does not start or user interface is missing
The models are displayed, but the simulation does not start.
- This can happen if your GPU does not have enough memory to run the simulation. Run the Discovery Live Compatibility Utility to check if your machine meets the minimum hardware requirements.
- If you have Multiple GPUs you may need to check if Discovery is using the right GPU. For more information on how to Delegate 1 of multiple GPUs to the Solver please check this page.
Menu is visible, but a black screen is displayed instead of the model.
- Try disabling anti-aliasing through File>Discovery Options>Popular>Anti-aliasing = Off
Issue: Simulation results are not as expected
Some features in my model are not included in the results view.
Fluid is flowing through a solid wall.
Fluid is not flowing through a channel/opening.- Make sure your GPU meets the recommended hardware requirements (8GB GPU RAM)
- Try running with a higher fidelity setting and/or with a larger GPU.
- Try to reduce the simulation bounds by making the fluid enclosure smaller, or removing some parts of the model near the outer boundary.
- Last resort: Try increasing the feature size by thickening the walls, etc.
Flow results do not look realistic
- Try using a Pressure condition with 0 Pa instead of the Outflow condition.
- Try running with a higher fidelity setting, or with a larger GPU.
