After generating mesh in Discovery AIM, you may encounter the following message:
Beams and/or shells have been detected. Select the modeling option and use shared topology to ensure the beam ends and shell edges are connected.
The message for beams and shells is an informational message that displays if Discovery AIM detects beams or shells in the model. The idea behind displaying the informational message is to direct users to use Shared Topology to connect beam and shell models versus using bonded contact.
To generate Shared Topology, go to Geometry Task and select “Edit Geometry” option. In the Geometry editing session, go to “Sharing” menu and use “Share” tool for creating Shared Topology. Shared Topology helps to generate conformal mesh at connections, thereby eliminating the need to create bonded contacts.
