Can ANSYS nCode DesignLife report the fatigue damage associated with a portion of a loading sequence?

The reported cycles are the allowable number of repeats of the defined loading sequence. DesignLife uses the rainflow counting method to apportion the total loading sequence into combinations of stress range, mean, stress, and repeats. These combinations are typically referred to as “bins”. DesignLife individually calculates the fatigue damage caused by each bin and sums them to determine the total fatigue damage for the entire loading sequence. The allowable number of cycles is the reciprocal of total fatigue damage. DesignLife reports the total fatigue damage and associated cycles. DesignLife does not report the damage or cycles associated with each individual rainflow bin. It is not possible to access the damage/cycles associated with an individual rainflow bin, but a duty cycle can be used to determine the damage/cycles associated with a portion of a loading sequence. For example, you could set-up a Duty Cycle, where event 1 represented a portion of the loading sequence, event 2 represented another portion, and event 3 represented the remaining portion. By default, DesignLife will report the total fatigue damage/cycles for the entire loading sequence, but you could also request DesignLife to report the damage/cycles associated with each event within the duty cycle. To output results per duty cycle event, you need to change two default Advanced Edit settings. Advanced Edit > Engine > OutputEventResults > True Advanced Edit > Post Processors > ChannelPerEvent > True
