Hello everyone.
In real life, two thinner plates will be welded to the two side surfaces of a thick central plate. I performed two different analyses of this in the Ansys program. The first was by using the weld tool in SpaceClaim, and the second by manually creating contacts in Mechanical. There were negligible differences in the results. Which method do you think is more suitable?
Thank you

Hi,
The best option for simulating the weld structure in Ansys depends on the specific requirements of your analysis and your workflow preferences. If you are looking for a more automated and efficient way to prepare your model for welding simulations, the weld tool in SpaceClaim could be the better choice. It simplifies the process by creating weld geometry representing where the welds would be in a real-world scenario, and it works well with both mid-surfaces and solids.
Refer Discovery SpaceClaim: Model Prep for CAE & MFG – Weld Surface Creation Tool – Ansys Knowledge on weld tool usage.
