Temperature expansion coefficient

      Hi all.

I did not find information on where you can set the coefficient of thermal expansion, for example for steel and sand:

Can I install them in this THERMAL_EXPANSION in the MULT column?

      ___

I use units: GPa, mm, ms, kg. Can I set the coefficient values as shown in the pictures above? If not, in what units should they be installed?

      Hi

Micron Per Meter Per Celsius Degree (µm/m-°C) is a unit in the category of Thermal expansion coefficient. It is also known as micron/meter/deg C. Micron Per Meter Per Celsius Degree (µm/m-°C) has a dimension of Q-1 where Q is temperature. It can be converted to the corresponding standard SI unit /K by multiplying its value by a factor of 1E-006.

      Cheers, Ram

Thank you. You did not answer my question. Where should I set this coefficient? Did I correctly suggest in the MULT column?

Please see the manual entry for MAT_ADD_THERMAL_EXPANSION, it describes how to specify the thermal expansion coefficients. You can also get a description of each parameter by clicking on the blue underlined parameter name in the Keyword Editor
