should the number of values in the transient table & number of time steps

      Hello everyone!

      I will use a transient table as a velocity inlet; it contains 60 values representing the velocity in each minute, so the whole transient table should represent the velocity over 1 hour.

      I want to simulate one hour. If I select the number of time steps as 6000 and the time step size as 0.1, this should give me one hour of simulation.

      The question is, I only have 60 values on the transient table, so should I repeat each value 100 times to have a total of 6000 values to be the same as the number of time steps? Is this correct?

      In sum, should the number of values in the transient table be equal to the "number of time steps"?

      Hi,

      In running a simulation, the total flow time simulated is defined by the product of time step size and number of time steps i.e Total flow time = time step size x number of time steps.

      If the values in your transient table represent a pattern that repeats every 60 steps, then yes, repeating each value 100 times to match the 6000 time steps would be a valid approach.

      Thanks for your reply, I want to confirm 2 points;

      1- my simulation time is one hour, so I selected: no. of time steps as 6000&the time step size is 0.01, the product should be 60, where I mean 60 minutes, is this correct or the results will be in seconds? My data is representing in minutes, that's why my transit table has 60 values, where each value represents the velocity in each minute during the hour.
