Rocky licensing / Academic multiphysics

      Hi,

I've Ansys Rocky installed and binded to a 25/250 Academic/Researsh Multiphysics Campus licence.

      I've two problems/questions:

1- I've one computer setup to use GPU (A100) that's working fine so I've GPU Licence.  I've setup another one with an RTX4090.  The videocard is correctly detected but when I launch a simulation I've a No GPU licence error message.  It occur even if we are not using the A100. / Is Rocky GPU licence are the Rocky HPC? Is it using another network port than Ansys licensing?

2- On every computers I setup Rocky I can't use more than 4 CPU/Core.  I have a bunch of Rocky HPC licences.  Is there a limitation on CPU use with Rocky?  The machine have more thant 32 Core available..?

      More technical details:

      All computer are windows based.

Licence server is running Ansys 2024R1 licence server it’s a windows server in an ESX VM.  Port 1055,1056,2325 are open

First machine which have A100 GPU had previous version of Ansys/Rocky (2022R2, 2023R1 and R2) but is now with 2024R1.  It’s a windows server used in TS mode (remote desktop).

Others machines with GTX GPU and without GPU are clean 2024R1 install (windows 10 and windows 11).

Licensing show correctly (Rocky_Prepos, Rocky_HPC, …) we have 25/250 Research/Teaching Multiphysics licence downloaded from portal and installed.

Ansys Fluent (2-way coupling) is running fine with any number of CPU/Core.  Ansys Rocky is working fine everywhere with 0 to 4 CPU, complaining about HPC licence when trying to use more than 4 CPU.  Rocky see the GPUs (A100 and RTX) correctly, lunch with the A100 correctly but complain about no GPU licence on the machines with RTX.

So it’s 1-Limitation to 4CPU only for Rocky and 2-Unable to use GPU licence other that on the A100 that are problematics.

Ok for #1 I still have no clues.. Got some other computer to use GPU, they had previous version of ansys installed.. could it be some licence config issue?

And for #2 It's really a licence server communication issue, Software checkout Rocky_prepost and Rocky_solver correctly but return an error for Rocky_HPC

      For anyone following the thread,

After testing with lmtools (FlexNet command line test tools) and sniffing with WireShark (to eliminate a network/firewall problem), I diagnose a licence problem for some features.  While present in the licence file Rocky_HPC wasn’t presented by the licence server to client.

Having no clues, I completly reinstall of both client (Ansys Fluent + Rocky) and server (Ansys Licence Server) to 2024R1 just to be sure everything was fine, I still had the problem.

Going to the Ansys Licence Portal ( https://licensing.ansys.com/index.html) regenerating and redownloading the licence file for the server (Last download was in Dec 23) and install the “new” licence file, then the problem was solved.

So while we don’t upgrade/change any of our licencing, the licence file shoud be re-issued and re-installed to work correctly with the 2024R1 Licence Server.

BTW: 4 is the CPU limit in the base Rocky licence without using Rocky_HPC.
