      Hi Everyone,

iam running an analysis having 5 load steps, out of which 3 load steps has converged 4th has failed, so i decrease the load and gave the run again and it solved.

but now the result is showing only from the 4th and 5th load steps only,..

iam unable to see the Results for 1 to 3 load steps, how can i get these back..also there is a failed sub step result exist in this,..

      Hello Chandan,

Do not restart an analysis from the end of a load step and then select the Specify option to save the restart points for the following load step. For example, do not restart an analysis from the end of a load step 2 and set the Specify option to Load Step 3.

Here's what document tells about retaining files after full solve:

When restart points are requested, the necessary restart files are always retained for an incomplete solve due to a convergence failure or user request. However, when the solve completes successfully, you have the option to request to either keep the restart points by setting this field to Yes, or to delete them by setting this field to No. You can control this setting here in the Details view of the Analysis Settings object, or under Tools> Options in the Analysis Settings and Solution preferences list. The setting in the Details view overrides the preference setting.

      Hi Nanda,

      thanks for the reply,..

i have specified these options when i started the analysis from very beginning, i haven't changed it later when i restart the analysis at the end of 3rd load step.

now my solution is fully solved, Is there any way that i can bring back the Results of 1,2 and 3 load steps..?

      Hi Chandan,

Can you please open the solver files directory and see how many result files are there (.rst file)? To open soler files directory please refer to the snapshot below:

      Hi Ashish,

i have seen File.rst, File0.rst, File1.rst, File2.rst and File3.rst, total of 5 .rst files in the solver file directory.

my problem is i can run the analysis again, but it take 36hr to solve full model, if there is any possible way to extract these it would be helpfull for me.

      thanks in advance.

      Hi Chandan,

Different rst files correspond to different load steps. You can read the .rst files and plot the results. On the ribbon bar go to Solution -> Read Result Files and import the .rst (in proper unit system, check solver output for unit system in which model was solved) and then plot the results.

Also, Ansys EnSight can be used to view the results: 2 - An update on outputting results in Ansys Mechanical: Taking it to the Next Level with Ansys EnSight - PADT (padtinc.com)

      hi ashish,

      thanks for the reply,..

i have tried that process as well, but unfortunately iam able to generate results of 4th and 5th load steps only it is not reading from 1 to 3 steps,.. even if i try to plot the stress b/w 1 to 3rd load step it is ploting the end results of 5th step only.

what is the use of Recover results option in restart analysis..?
