Request Support GDS to AEDT

      Hi Ansys,

      Good Day!

I am using ANSYS Q3D to import GDS file to AEDT file. The problem with this is that i need to do major edits once the gds is translated to aedt file. The gds is a higly densed layout and there are so many intersected objects after the import. Is there a way to have the import done without any object intersection?

I also tried to request support thru the webpage but your page is not found.

      Hi Henri,

May I know why are you using Q3D for importing GDS file instead of HFSS 3D Layout?

I suggest HFSS 3D Layout is the best choice for your case as your design is multilayered. If you are new to HFSS 3D Layout then you can go through the 3D Layout help - Ansys Electronics 2023 R1 - Welcome to HFSS Help and "getting started guides" - Ansys Electronics 2023 R1 - Welcome to HFSS 3D Layout Help.

It looks like you have tried to reach the Ansys Discovery team as per the shared images. If you have a service contract then you can contact us using the Ansys Customer Portal - Home Page - Ansys Customer Portal.

      Best regards,
      Praneeth.

      Hi Praneeth,

I am using Ansys Q3D to obtain the RLGC of a particular Net of 4 layer uModule.

Am I using the wrong tool?

I've tried using HFSS 3D but there is an error.

Is it possible to import the gds file (pic below) into the Q3D environment then extract the RLGC ?

May I know the Solution frequency range for Ansys Q3D?

      Thanks,

      Henri

      Hi Praneeth,

      Good day!

      Any updates?

We need Q3D extractor for this project.

      Thanks,

      Henri

      Hi Henri,

I appreciate your patience. Sorry for not providing a response in time.

I suggest you use HFSS 3D layout to import the GDS file and verify if the model is imported correctly by validating the nets and other components. Please share the error you were getting while doing so.

After the validation is complete, then you can use Q3D to extract the RLGC. Do you mean the equivalent circuit when you refer RLGC of your model?

The Q3D solution frequency has to be set as per the device's operating frequency.

      Best regards,
      Praneeth,

      Hi Praneeth,

No worries :-) Thanks for the reply.

We used this step: File>Import>GDSII then this GUI poped up.

used the tech file we created

Had the file opened in HFSS 3D Layout. Problem is, it did not detect the nets of the gds. Is there something that I missed?

Anotehr question is about license. Is there a lone license for Q3D? I am thinking if we will need to the HFSS flow before Q3D but the user doent have the HFSS license, then he has no choice but to do the import on this GUI.

      Thanks,

      Henri

      Hi,

This is Shanli. I need to extract IC (Integrated Circuit) 3D parasitic capacitance from a GDS file (layout done via Cadence tool), do you have an existing flow/tool I can use?

If yes, please provide the information and guide me there.

      thanks!

      Shanli

        Hi Shanli,

Please go through the section "Importing 2D Model (GDSII) Files" of the Q3D Extractor help document available under the Help menu. If you are new to Q3D extractor then please go through this AIS video course - Intro to Ansys Q3D | Ansys Innovation Course to get started.

        Best regards,
        Praneeth.
