Hi, I am having a problem setting up the Swirl RPM in the fan settings I am trying to model. According to my understanding, the Swirl RPM provides the swirl to the flow emanating from the fan. So, If I put the Swirl RPM value zero, then the flow coming out of the fan will be straight. If I put the swirl RPM to the rated RPM (I am not sure what value I should put for creating the swirl, so I am using the rated RPM of the fan), then the flow will be swirled. But setting these two extreme values of swirl RPM, i.e., 0RPM and 3075 RPM, the flow velocity in the post-processing results is different and does not make any sense. When I put the swirl RPM to 3075 and my operating RPM to 10, the flow velocity in the post-processing field overlay is 0.2077 max (attached figure). but when I put the swirl RPM to 0 and operating RPM to 10 the flow velocity is very high (attached figure). According to my understanding of the Swirl RPM, it does not make sense. I would like someone to help me with this.Â
Please let me know if you need any further information from me. Figure1 having Swirl RPM

Please refer to the Ansys Icepak User's Guide, Section "10-Native 3D Components in Icepak", Parts "Specifying Swirl" and "Fan Efficiency", to better understand Swirl Magnitude, RPM and Operating RPM. If you know the fan RPM, you should define the Swirl by selecting RPM and inputing this value. Icepak will enable the swirl to change as a function of the fan operating point. Operating RPM specifies a working RPM value that is used in conjuction with the nominal RPM to dynamically update the fan curve.Â
Kind regards,
Yannis
