SubscriberHello!
I am trying to design an antenna that is focused in the near-field. I would like to optimize the antenna's power density on a plane at a distance of 1 m from the antenna (which is around 10*wavelength) and this location lies in the near-field of my antenna due to the antenna's electrical size. The near-field simulation setup allows me plot the fields on a sphere or a line but not on a plane.Â
I read somewhere that I could place a non-model plane at a distance of 1m from my antenna and plot the fields on it, but then this kind of simulation would be computationally expensive due to the size....Â
I was wondering how I would go about performing this simulation?Â

SubscriberI had a similar goal and was able to use Savant to simulate field strength on a plane. Here's what my sim looked like:
the purple blocks are concrete buildings and the antenna is located above the middle building as shown by the torus pattern of a dipole. I was trying to simulate the field strength at ground level. You should be able to do the same thing in your case and use a y-z plane or something.

SubscriberGreat! Thank you! Did you import the torus shaped pattern from an HFSS simulation?Â

SubscriberI used one of the default dipole models in Savant actually, and specified that the radiation pattern be shown.
