Maxwell 2D: Modify the number of conductors per slot in an induciton motor

      Hello everyone,

I've designed a model of an induction motor using RMxprt and then exported it to Maxwell 2D. The original model created in RMxprt has 11 conductors per slot. Now, once in Maxwell 2D, I would like to test the motor performance changing the number of conductors from 11 to 66, while maintaining the resistance and the inductance of the voltage-type excitation windings (according to Maxwell Help in this type of winding the resistance accounts for the phase resistance, and the inductance, for the end-effects inductance).

However, after increasing the number of conductors per slot (Fig 1 vs Fig 2), the results do not make sense. I've tested both models with a load of 70 Nm. While the one with 11 conductors per slots reach a certain operating speed, the one with 66 conductors cannot start (speed is negative). As the number of conductors/slot is higher in the second case I would have expected a higher torque, and therefore, that the motor had reached a speed closer to the synchronous speed.

I am very new at Ansys Maxwell, so I would really appreciate any help.

      Thank you very much

Actually, there are lots of things changed while changing the coil turns from 11 to 66 in the induction machine, such as slip, wire size, phase resistance, inductance, rated torque and speed, etc.
I suggest you to use RMxprt to change the coil turns and run the simulation, to export the model with 66 turns to Maxwell.
