SubscriberHello! My research group just had our previous annual Lumerical license expired. We are attempting to host our new license on a new server, running RedHat 9.
We have the new license file ready and saved under shared_files/licensing/license_files
When we attempt to start the license manager using start_ansysli, the ansysli_server.log file records the following information:
2023/10/23 10:35:52 INFO ANSYSLI_CMD=/home/admin/Downloads/ExterpriseLicensing_2023r2/shared_files/licensing/linx64/ansysli_server

2023/10/23 10:35:54 INFO Ready to accept connections.Although it ends with "Ready to accept connections", we cannot successfully connect to the new license, from personal PC's, or from the host server itself. In debugging, we've found that netstat results show no processes listening on 1055, 1056, or 1084. We also cannot connect to localhost:1084/ in the browser. Using telnet to open a session with any of the ports also fails.
This seems that it could be related to the "ERROR" lines above, which show that the FLEXlm server cannot be started, but we aren't certain. So far, we've tried ensuring the ports are open with firewall-cmd and iptables, specifying the vendor port in the license file, and a few other attempts, but no luck so far. Is there any clear next step we should try? Thank you!

Ansys Employee@Sabrina Corsetti,
Based on the supported systems for the Ansys license manager, RHEL 9 is not yet supported.
>>ansys-2023-r2-platform-support-by-application-rev.pdf
We have the following Knowledge Base for the Ansys license manager installation, configuration and troubleshooting on Linux:
- Ansys license manager installation guide for Linux – Ansys Optics
- Required libraries and packages for the Ansys license manager on Linux – Ansys Optics
- Ansys license management center (Log Files) – Ansys Optics
- Ansys license manager configuration and license file installation – Ansys Optics
- Troubleshooting licensing issues with the Ansys license manager – Ansys Optics
The Ansys LMCenter Diagnostic files should provide any information on what is happening with the license manager.
e.g. the LM (lmgrd) might not be running if this is missing the 'redhat-lsb' package, etc. -

SubscriberThank you for the reply! Using RHEL 9 did turn out to be the issue, and we were indeed missing redhat-lsb-core (not originally available for RHEL 9).
Thankfully, redhat-lsb-core is now available through fedora: https://packages.fedoraproject.org/pkgs/redhat-lsb/redhat-lsb-core/Installing lsb-core and relaunching the license manager from the admin account fixed the issues we were having!
