License error “currently in use by another process” when running Fluent

      We have some researchers here who are running into an error when using Fluent. This is ANSYS 2022 R2 on Windows. 

      We have the ANSYS Academic Multiphysics Campus Solution with plenty of available licenses for all components. The client machine is accessing the license server properly.

      However, sometimes when running Fluent jobs, they get this error:



      I had them generate the ANSYS logs on the client side, and in the log "[machinename].FLUENT.222.out", I see the following:

      It looks like at 14:30:57 cfd_solve_level2 was properly accessed, and when attempted again at 14:31:05 (and after), it was denied.

      It does not appear to be a matter of licensing in terms of what our ANSYS license allows, but maybe in terms of what can be run on a single machine?

      What does the "shared license" error mean, and how do we work around it?

      Hi Arbauman,

      Can you please turn off license sharing under WB > Tools > Options > Project Management > Uncheck the share a single license box and click OK, restart Workbench for this setting to take effect.
