Issues setting up pin port in HFSS

      Hello,

I am attempting to set up a pin port on top of a via (the via goes from layers 1 to 8, with the pin on layer 1). However, I keep getting the error message "Pin1: there are no valid terminals within the port region, the extent factor could be incorrect"? How exactly am I supposed to address this error? Thanks.

      Hello Benjamin,

Thank you for reaching out to Ansys Learning Forum. 😊

The error message you're encountering in HFSS 3D Layout, indicates that there may be a problem with how the port is defined or with the placement of terminals. In HFSS 3D Layout, it is indeed necessary to have terminals in ports because they are used to define where the electromagnetic fields are excited or measured within the simulation.

To resolve the error, you should ensure that the terminals are correctly placed within the port region and that the extent factor is set appropriately. The extent factor determines the size of the port region, and if it's not set correctly, HFSS may not be able to locate the terminals within the defined port region.

Please review your port setup and terminal placement, and adjust the extent factor as needed to ensure that the terminals are within the port region.

      Kind regards,
      Jason.
