Impossible to match the material with a supported definition

      Hello,

I am trying to simulate the impact of a projectile agains an Aluminium plate using LS-DYNA. When I select the Al-6061-T6 from the Explicit Materials library, I receive the followig errors:

I saw this post with the same issue, but I am an Ansys noob and I don't know how to proceed with the suggested solution.

Could anyone please give me some hints?

      Thanks,
      Henrique

      Hi Henriquegpo,

A bit of background: The workbench version of LS-DYNA supports well-defined material models that are compactable to the LS-DYNA solver only.

In this case, you might have used non-filtered engineering data specific to the dyna system and might have used the material from the explicit material library only supported for autodyn or have used an unsupported material property which lsdyna -wb will check to trigger this error.

Fix: First of all filter the engineering data as follows :

then for the AL6061-T6, You will see that the software makes a compatible version suited for the lsdyna solver.

if you don't find the close compatible or no compatible material use the command snippets specific to the part to set the dyna material information copied from the .k file or your resource.

      Cheers, Ram

      Hi Ram,

Thanks for the answer and your time.

Unfortunately, even when I filter the engineering data sources like you did, I keep getting the exact same errors. This was also true for other materials such AL 7075-T6

I was then looking for the input.k file, getting the lines that define the material I want and putting that as a command snippet under each part (changing the part ID in each snippet). Now the error changes to: "An error ocurred inside the SOLVER module: general error" and "An exception occured when generating the input file, check the extensions log for further details".

Any ideas on why this is happening? I am happy to provide more details if needed.

      Best,
      Henrique

      Sorry, forgot one question:

In explicit analysis (being autodyn or ls-dyna), is it possible to use material definition with only a Multilinear Isotropic Hardening as model?
