Hi, I am currently reproducing a plot from a research paper that illustrates the relationship between bending loss and bending radius.
I have tried to simulate bend loss several times, but the results displayed are not good, first I simulated in the FEEM. Typically, bending loss is expected to decrease with an increase in bending radius. However, the simulation results I obtained are not consistent with this expectation; instead of a smooth curve, they form a piecewise linear graph, and the values of bending loss are uncharacteristically low. It appears that there may be an issue, but I am unsure how to proceed with improvements.
And there are some other issues. When I follow the link Bent Waveguide (FEEM) – Ansys Optics, change the width and thickness of the waveguide and make corresponding changes to the simulation area, I always encounter the error as shown in the figure below, what can I do to resolve this problem?
Then I used FDE to simulate again, the result is below. You can see that the loss is still so small! What has led to this situation?
Could you please offer some suggestions? Thank you very much!

For the simulation error, you may need to increase the number of trial modes.
When loss is small, it is likely that you need to increase simulation accuracy.
