How to debug when Ansys cannot find the license host?

Ansys has been running fine on our local network with our resident license manager on a separate host, which is why now someone wants to change that.  They want us to use a license manager on a completely different network than ours.

I'm testing with fluent, but really anything that requires a license would work.

I'm testing by changing the ANSYSLMD_LICENSE_FILE value from "1055@ourhost" to "1055@theirhost".  And then I try to run fluent.  The initial GUI comes up, I click Start, and then it sits there for several minutes before it says:

      Connected server license list:

      Hit enter to exit

(Note the empty server license list)

If I change the env var back to our license host, then it works fine.

I suspect that the problem is either our network or our firewall, but they both think it's all configured correctly.  The question I have is...is there some license-testing utility in Ansys that I can use to get some useful info to show our network or security people what the problem is?  Some log file somewhere that would say what is going on when Fluent tries to get a license and times out?

      Thanks.

      Hi Robgics,

View the licdebug file. The licdebug file is generated when you run an Ansys, Inc. application and resides in the .ansys subdirectory under the directory specified by the TEMP environment variable (Windows) or in the $HOME directory (Linux).

These files contain licensing information for the programs running.

This may give an idea as to what is being looked at.
