SubscriberI was simulating a UHF dipole antenna on a 1U CubeSat on the software 'Ansys HFSS'. I got a tilted radiation pattern as can be seen in the image below. The reason for this was antenna ground and satellite ground were common. But there isn't anyway such that we can avoid this so please if any other solution is possible apart from disconnecting satellite ground and the antenna ground.

SubscriberHello...in real the situation will be different than the simulation. The antenna in free space may have a far field region that starts at say 10m. When you put that antenna many wave lengths up in the sky, the far field distance will be larger due to the fact that your antenna now consists of two antennas (one in the air, one in the ground [the reflection]. So in a real world situation the mobile station may not be in the far field of the antenna with ground.n
