Hi, I'm new to Zemax. I'm trying to model a system in which two of the three lenses must have matching focal length (and dissimilar materials) but the value of those focal lengths is a variable I want to optomize. I can use EFFL to specify a target focal length of the system for the merit function, but I haven't figured out how to add a constraint like FL1 = FL2.

Hi Bunnellp,
Thank you for reaching out to us, one quick alternative that I can think for your case is to use our mathematical operands within your merit function with (The Optimize Tab (sequential ui mode) » Automatic Optimization Group » Merit Function Editor (automatic optimization group) » Optimization Operands by Category » General Math Operands). I think DIFF operand can work for you by targeting it to zero:
I hope that was helpful.
Kind Regards,
Niki
