SubscriberGood Morning,
I received the following error message on my computer after a forced shutdown of the terminal.
I believe the simulation already completed, but the data seems to be in limbo.
Can it be recovered?
project *File Location* may be open in another instance of the application.
Opening the project in multiple instances may cause data corruption software failure.
Do you want to continue?
Respectfully,
Kerry Johnson

Forum ModeratorHi Kerry,
This message simply indicates the a ProjectName.lock exists.
The .lock file is a method that is used to indicate the project is in use - eliminating multiple instances of the application from accessing the project.
However, in an event of unexpected termination, the lock file may not get automatically removed.
You can select continue and open the project as normal.
thanks
Randy

SubscriberJust to be clear, can the .lock file be used to open up the previous simulation results.
If the computer crashes/shuts down, and there is a .lock file, can it be used to start up the data captured before the crash/shut down?

Forum ModeratorHi Kerry,
The .lock file contents should be irrelevant and can be deleted if the application crashed or was terminated -- leaving this file.
If you are unable to open the project after removing the lock file -- your project data actually became corrupted, there is probably little that can be done to recover.
thanks
Randy

Subscriber.Hello, I am facing the same problem. I was using fluent, and the file is not loading now. Its locked!.
ANSYS is not responding and not able to open a new project. Is there a way to overcome this. I think deleting .lock files is not helpful as I have tried. They keep generating when loading the project file. Please help if you have a solution
