Hello, I have a 3-phase cable I am trying to add to an inverter (as shown in the figure below) and I keep getting the following errors.

I have assigned an external winding (for the conductors in green) in Maxwell 3D and named them as the load inductor in the Twin builder (L1, L2 and L3). I am using Magnetic transient solver, I have enabled the coupling between twin builder and maxwell, made the same solution setup for both the files for analysis.

Errors I get:

1. Maxwell 3D:

1.a. Simulation completed with execution error on server

1. Twin Builder:

2.a An external simulator couldn't be setup for simulation

2.b Simulation completed with execution error on server

I am using the following references:

Technically, I know that the 3-phase cable is capacitive nature, but modeling it as an inductor does not seem right. Am I doing it right? Any references/ tutorials in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, ,nCould you first do a quick troubleshooting like this: nDisconnect twinbuilder and Maxwell (remember to uncheck enable transient cosimulation in design setting). Change excitation in Maxwell from external to a user defined excitation, run the simulation in Maxwell and see if there is any error. Follow a similar procedure in simplorer, removed the linked component from Maxwell and change to inductors in simplorer. Run the simulation in simplorer, see if there is any error. n

, Thank you for your reply. nI tried simulating both the models in Maxwell and twin builder independently and they work fine. Any help to debug the co-simulation would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! n

Hi, ,nI don't see obvious error from the information you provided. It seems like a connection/link issue. You could try following: n1. Reconnect the Maxwell design to the simplorer circuit. 2. add a small series resistor to the voltage source. 3. The reference you used on Page 11 in http://ansoft-maxwell.narod.ru/en/Maxwell_v16_L05_Transient_Solvers.pdf is not about linking to simplorer but to external circuit in Maxwell. That could be another operation that messed things up. n
