SubscriberIam doing the modal analysis of Assembly structure , I want to change the frequency by doing some design modificatioon like thickness change etc. I have referred the ansys innovation course of "How to use simulation for changing natural frequency". In this course strain energy per unitt volume is calculated and used for identifying where the material need to be added or removed for changing frequency. I tried the same for my assembly but the strain energy plot i am getting is not showing any significant difference in the assembly component, which will tell me where to increase the material. mmostly the uniform distribution on structures.Â
please help

Ansys EmployeeHello Bala,
Sharing some screenshots of your model and your boundary conditions would really help forum members to better answer your query. I hope it's not confidential.

Nanda.

Ansys EmployeeHello Bala,
Have you changed the expression of energypotential to energypotential/volume in the user defined result? I would try to generate more number of mode shapes and see if I'm still experiencing the same scenario. Ideally this shouldn't be the case. I would also try to stiffen the model in direction which has high participation factor. This will increase my natural frequencies. Let me know how this goes.
All the best!
