I'm currently facing a recurring issue with ANSYS Workbench while working with the R2 2024 student version. The error popup states:
"AnsysWBU.exe encountered a problem. A diagnostic file has been written."
Despite my attempts to troubleshoot, I'm unable to open DesignModeler and Mechanical, but SpaceClaim works fine. Here's what I've tried so far:
- Renamed the ANSYS.old files in the AppData and Temp directories and cleared these folders.
- Performed a thorough uninstall and reinstallation of ANSYS R2 2024, including deleting registry entries and the Event directory.
- Installed the R1 version on a different drive, but the problem persists.
The issue seems isolated to DesignModeler and Mechanical, as other tools like SpaceClaim load without issues.
If anyone has faced a similar problem or has insights into resolving this, your help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you Mr Harsh, i was able to resolve it by adding an environment variable mentioned in another post after reinstalling.
i think that worked or may be not.
