      Hi all,

I am facing the problem that I my Ansys Mechnical GUI won't start when I am using 2023R1/R2 or 2024R1. When using the version from 2022 it works just fine. We are working on SUSE Linux Machines with KDE Plasma Desktop.

This is the output in the Ansys log window from 2024R1 starting mechanical. It shows the Ansys logo an crashes after showing this message:

      BEGIN:
input contexts not freed before XCloseIM
      ***/ansys_inc/v241/ansys/bin/answish241: line 31: 32198 Aborted
      (core dumped) ***/ansys_inc/v241/commonfiles/Tcl/bin/linx64/wish
      ***/ansys_inc/v241/ansys/gui/scripts/AnsysEntry.eui

This is the output in the Ansys log window from 2022R1 starting mechanical. It starts and works fine but still shows a similar error in the log:

input contexts not freed before XCloseIM
       TURN OFF WORKING PLANE DISPLAY
      ***/ansys_inc/v221/ansys/bin/answish221: line 31:  6974 Aborted
      (core dumped) ***/ansys_inc/v221/commonfiles/Tcl/bin/linx64/wish
      ***/ansys_inc/v221/ansys/gui/scripts/AnsysEntry.eui

Is anyone of you having similar problems and knows how to handle this one? Or can you say if something significant in dependencies changed from 2022R1 to 2024R1?

      Thank you very much.

      Best regards

      Hello,

I would recommend checking the Linux Installation Guide for 2024 R1 and verifying that all Prerequisites are installed.
      Section 2
Also, I would check that the graphics card is supported and the driver is up to date.
