SubscriberGood afternoon,Â
One of our subscribers in a post-secondary institution (Montreal, Quebec) has tried to create an account here in your "Learning Forum". This person is not an employee of our organisation.Â
When he registered, he was asked to provide an Account or Customer number. In the past, when we have directed our subscribers to this "Forum", none has reported to us a need to provide this information. His name appears to be registered, but he claims that he cannot see any posts once he has logged in.Â
Our questions are: Has there been a change in registration policy for academic users of this "Forum"; and to whom may we direct this student for advice about and help for "Forum" registration?
Please advise.Â

CMC Microsystems Technical Support staff

Forum ModeratorShouldn't need to for the Forum. Please can you double check they were registering here and not the Support Portal as that does require more information. Having checked on my phone (I'm on the Ansys network) it's not asking for anything other than email, name and to create a password.Â

SubscriberGood morning to you,Â
Thank you for this quick response. In order to set matters to right, we thought of two ways forward.Â
1) If a student has both a school e-mail address and a personal e-mail address - is there a restriction as to how many accounts could be opened by one person?Â
2) Is there a department within Ansys that handles "Forum" accounts, and could reset this person's entry? A member of this group could send reset instructions to us privately, and we would then forward this information to the student in question.Â
Again, please advise.Â

Forum Moderator1) No, but if we find someone posting from multiple accounts to try and either speed things up or otherwise against the T&Cs then we'd ban all accounts involved.Â
2) Yes and no. There is a back end team but I'm unsure how that all works: I have limited access for moderation purposes. Accounts are held for the individual on here, and we'd not pass any details back to a third party. All students would need to register themselves, and sign off on the T&Cs on registering.Â

SubscriberThank you again for another quick reply.Â
We'll pass along notice of your answers and let the student decide how best to correct the situation.Â
Pleasant day to you.Â
