Ansys EmployeeHello Dennis,
It should be automatically updated on Aug 1st. The product version may still be same, but the licenses will be extended for another year. I'm checking with the Student Program Manager, he might have any latest news on product version upgrade.Regards,
Nanda.

Ansys EmployeeHello Dennis,
The product is expected to be updated during the last week of July. However, I do not currently have confirmation on which version will be released or whether the issue with LS-DYNA Workbench Student will be resolved in that update. As of Today, only the stand-alone version will become available.Regards,

SubscriberHi Nanda, thank you!  Actually from what I am seeing, the workbench LSDYNA comes with the Ansys main product student version.  I really don't click the "solve" button inside workbench LSDYNA.  THe LSDYNA student license comes with a solver version inside the package and that's the one I call in LSRUN to solve model locally on my home machine for my youtube channels. Â
I think this means as long as the license renews, I can keep using the R16.1 solver and pull the student license? I am putting these student license to good use making a lot of videos each year haha :)

Ansys EmployeeYes, most likely the new license will support the R17 solver. Otherwise, it will continue to use the R16.1 solver. Since R17 was only released a few weeks ago, there may not have been sufficient time for the product team to integrate it into the Student version. That said, I am hopeful that the upcoming release will include R17 support.
Also, please keep the videos coming; they are genuinely valuable. I am one of the many beneficiaries of your content, and your videos served and continue to do so as a useful resource when troubleshooting and debugging my challenging models.

SubscriberHi Nanda, thank you for saying that and I really appreciate it :).  It also encourages me to keep working on it.Â
I am doing this to also help myself learn by studying different topics I am not 100% familiar with and then build example models.  I pull together a lot of resources/materials each time I make a video and it's been so helpful to myself on my own learning path.
People say LSDYNA Is hard to use but I see a ton of amazing resources out there that are free that Ansys products just don't offer (all the dynamore web pages, dyna examples, dynasupport paper from each year's conference, the lSTC sites, other youtube channels (like Ameen Topa).  Dyna also has the advantage that a single set of input files can be shared easily and opened everywhere with a free lSPP tool.  Not to mention, Dyna can do so much.Â
I've pretty much given up on expanding my Ansys Mechanical skills because of Dyna.  I want to share all this for other forum members to see because LSDYNA is absolutely the most amazing commercial product for us simulation engineers.Â
