SubscriberHi Guys,
I am following the video tutorial and I am up to the stage where I double click 'model' to open Ansys Mechanical. It opens a plain grey window but the program never materializes. After minutes of waiting (one a modern, powerful PC) I close the grey window and I get an error in the main workbench window that says:
" Error while waiting for Mechanical initialization to complete. Either the application crashed or Workbench lost communication with it."
Has anyone else had this issue and if so, how have they resolved it?
Thanks in advance,
Rhys

Ansys EmployeeHi Rhys,
Do you have a similar issue if you try to open Design Modeler ?
Â
Open CMD Prompt, then type the following command
ping %computername% -4
and post the output of it here
Â
Also, in CMD Prompt, type the following command
dxdiag
then post the screenshot of the 1 page and the 'Display' page here.
Â
Open up 'Device Manager' -> expand the 'Display adapters' and post the screenshot of it.
Â
Thanks,
Win

I am not sure what you mean by a dummy account with pure English?
Sorry to be a hassle but I have paid for a course through EdX with this software and it is time limited so I really do need to get this software package working.
Additionally, here in Australia we have two holidays linking up (Easter and ANZAC day) so I will be away until the 29th of April and unable to respond after today. -

Ansys EmployeeYou can disregard the test account part.
Do you have any .err file under E:Installed softwareAnsysANSYS IncANSYS Student ?
Also, you can try the following 3 commands in CMD Prompt,
set PATH=C:WINDOWSsystem32;C:WINDOWS;C:WINDOWSSystem32Wbem
E:
"E:Installed softwareAnsysANSYS IncANSYS Studentv193FrameworkbinWin64runwb2.exe"
Does this help ?
Thanks,
Win

SubscriberHello,
There are no error files in that directory. However, the subsequent commands do seem to have made the software work properly now!
Thanks so much for your helpÂ

Ansys EmployeeHi AusStudent ,
That's great !
If those commands work for you, it means your issue is with the Path environment variable.
Please reorder your Path environment variable value so that C:WINDOWSsystem32;C:WINDOWS;C:WINDOWSSystem32Wbem is in front of everything else. See the steps on how to do that here (Note: I strongly recommend to back up your current Path environment variable value before you reorder its value)

Thanks,
Win

SubscriberI am having the same issue. I am not very tech savvy though. Can you please help on what I need to do to check for err files and get ANSYS running properly? What do I type in the command prompt? It is saying the E: drive doesn't exist.

Ansys EmployeeHi Jordan03,
Please create a new thread for your issue and post the output of the
setÂ
command from CMD Prompt (just type set and enter)
Also, post the screenshot of the error/issue you are having.
Make sure you post these inline with text as ANSYS employees are not allowed to download attachment.
Thanks,
Win
